Llamas, Ostriches, and a Wedding

We recently made a trip back to S.A. to attend the wedding of one of Brandon's friends from growing up. It turns out that the S.A. (San Antonio) of Texas isn't quite the same as the S.A. of Africa (South Africa), but we did what we could to find some similarities.

Gotta have the Texas Longhorn!

We were a bit wary of this fella. Brandon has a great video of him trying to get his head into our closed window.

No llamas in the car please

This Scicilian Donkey made us laugh. I had been feeding him out of my hand before I started taking his picture. Every time I pointed the camera to take his picture, he made this funny face. As soon as I put the camera down, he went back to normal and ate more pellets. Odd fellow.

I think we need a baby zebra.

As much as we enjoyed the drive through zoo, the highlight of the trip was going to the San Antonio temple for Adri's wedding. It was a beautiful day and we were so happy for she and her now husband. It was fun to meet some of the people from the ward Brandon had grown up in, and to see how excited they were to see him again! I am so grateful for our Heavenly Father's plan for His children that brings so much love and peace along with the promise of being with our families that we love so much for all eternity.

Adri and Husband had some great wedding cakes. We were quite thrilled with this sushi cake. We didn't get a great picture of the other cake, but the cake topper was a lego bride and groom. Brandon was successful in his attempts to not get too jealous of that :)

Sushi!

Brandon and I enjoy learning new things. For Christmas, I got Brandon a sushi making class-and obviously signed myself up as well so that he wouldn't have to go all alone :) We went this past Monday and had a lot of fun learning the proper way to make sushi. I've decided that the best classes are ones in which you get to eat your work!

After taking this class, we got a group of our friends together this weekend for a sushi making party. Everyone brought a different kind of fish, Brandon and I provided everything else, and we had a great time making nigiri and different sushi rolls. Brandon has gotten to be especially good with this, and here is what he had to say....

"JaLeen and I learned how to make Sushi this past Monday. Then I watched 'Jiro dreams of Sushi' and a few you-tube videos... At our sushi making party on Friday I crafted this beauty. If this oil and gas thing doesn't work out I may try opening a sushi restaurant..."
